Revisions have been made to meet with the changing trends in the subject matter of Zoology (consequent on the rapid advancement in the global frontiers of knowledge) to enhance the ability of the Department to continue to meet its set objectives even in changing times
With adaptation, the department has emerged a leading centre of excellence in Nigeria especially in the area of environmental studies.
Over the four decades of its existence, the department has undergone series of changes both in status as an academic unit and in its curriculum development.
Erythrocebus patas (Patas Monkey)
Distributed widely within woodlands and savannah south of the sahara . Characterized by vigilance in all classes.

Polygamous forest birds that nest on ground and roost in trees

Widely distributed within the savannah areas of Africa. Usually in flocks except when nesting.
Pantera leo (Sociable Lion)
Large powerful territorial cat living in family groups or prides of up to twenty-five individuals.
Columba guinea (Speckled pigeon)
Large robust pale grey pigeon with chestnut mantle and wing coverts. Gregarious in habit
